Remembering David Londoner


World Policy Institute Advisory Board member David Londoner passed away in May after a nearly year-long battle with a rare form of cancer.

David recently celebrated his 75th birthday and the 45th anniversary of his marriage to Clara Londoner.

Putting his experience as a media analyst to work, he gave thoughtful insights in discussions on marketing, distribution and other issues related to World Policy Journal. David’s thoughtfulness, enthusiasm, keen intelligence, kindness and generosity will be remembered.

David was General Partner of The North River Company, a family investment partnership. He studied liberal arts and economics at Columbia and accounting and finance at Columbia Business School.  He was in the investment business his entire professional life, most of which was spent at Wertheim & Co, where he built and managed one of the leading Media/Entertainment industry research groups, and continued with Schroder & Co. Inc.  A Chartered Financial Analyst, he was a driving force behind tightening accounting rules for motion picture and television production companies.  An Institutional Investor Magazine All-Star Analyst for 26 consecutive years, he was known for calling major turning points in the broadcasting and motion picture industries.  After retiring from Wall Street, David served on the Board of Directors of EMI Group plc, Meredith Corporation, Wintergreen Fund,; and Visions, Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
